Chevron Asks Ill. Court to Transfer Claims, Says Lawsuit is in Wrong Venue

CHICAGO -- A benzene defendant has moved to transfer the claims of a woman who it claims has neither worked with nor been exposed to benzene in the county where she filed her lawsuit. Gonzalez v. Citgo Petroleum Corp., et al., No. 2008L010329 (Ill. Cir. Ct., Cook Cty.).

In the Dec. 3 motion, defendant Chevron Phillips Chemical Co. says the Illinois Circuit Court for Cook County has no interest in this case and that it would be a burden to the residents of Cook County to try the claims where they have been filed.
