Jury Awards Asbestos Plaintiffs $36 Million in Compensatory, Punitive Damages




LOS ANGELES -- A jury has returned a punitive damage award of $18 million in an asbestos case, adding to the $18.6 million compensatory damage award it returned last week, sources tell HarrisMartin Publishing. Treggett, et al. v. Alpha Inc., et al., No. BC307058 (Calif. Super. Ct., Los Angeles Cty.).

According to sources, the Los Angeles County Superior Court jury returned the $18 million punitive damage verdict on Oct. 20, after deliberating for nearly two days.
