General Electric Awarded Summary Judgment in New Jersey Asbestos Case

CAMDEN, N.J. –– General Electric is entitled to summary judgment in a pending asbestos matter, a federal court recently ruled, because there is no evidence establishing that the defendant manufactured or distributed the product to which exposure is alleged.

The U.S. District Court for District of New Jersey further said in its Dec. 22 opinion that “there is no available inference that [the] GE turbines contained asbestos.”

Plaintiff Samuel R. Feaster contended in his complaint that he developed mesothelioma as a result of exposure to asbestos-containing products during his employment at New York Shipbuilding and Drydock Co. in Camden, N.J., …
