Ill. Federal Court Remands Asbestos Suit, Says Removing Defendants No Longer Parties in Litigation

EAST ST. LOUIS, Ill. –– An Illinois federal court has remanded an asbestos exposure action, noting that the only two defendants asserting a federal defense have since been dismissed from the case.

In its Oct. 20 order, the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Illinois remanded the case to the Third Judicial Circuit Court in Madison County.

Dennis Rozumek filed the lawsuit, contending that he was injured as a result of asbestos exposure. Crane Co. removed the complaint, saying that the claims arose out of acts undertaken at the direction of a federal officer. General Electric later joined …
