N.Y. Court Denies Post-Trial Motions by Crane Co., Asks Plaintiffs to Stipulate to Reduced Damages

NEW YORK –– A New York trial court has denied post-trial motions filed by Crane Co. in two asbestos cases but has vacated a portion of the damages in both cases unless the plaintiffs stipulate to reduced awards.

In the Jan. 7 order, the New York Supreme Court for New York County did deny the defendant’s efforts to throw out the verdict entirely, stating in part that “there was ample evidence presented during the trial that Crane Co. designed and supplied its products with asbestos-containing gaskets, packing, insulation and cement and that it promoted the sale of asbestos insulation to …
