Louisiana Appellate Court Reverses Summary Judgment Award for B.F. Goodrich in Asbestos Case

NEW ORLEANS –– A Louisiana appellate court has reversed an award of summary judgment for B.F. Goodrich, finding that the trial court erred when it placed more weight with the duration of exposure than the quality of exposure.

In the Dec. 10 opinion, the Louisiana 4th District Court of Appeals found that the plaintiffs had presented enough evidence to raise a genuine issue of material fact as to whether the alleged exposure was substantial enough to cause asbestosis.

Plaintiffs Edward and Anna Alberes filed the suit, contending that Edward was exposed to asbestos-containing products while employed at B.F. Goodrich Corp. …
