NYC Court Dismisses Crane Co. from U.S. Naval Asbestos Exposure Lawsuit

NEW YORK –– A New York trial court has dismissed asbestos claims asserted against Crane Co., ruling that the plaintiff had failed to establish that he was exposed to asbestos in the defendant’s product.

Without more evidence linking the defendant’s valves to the vicinity in which the former seaman worked, the plaintiff’s claims are speculative, the New York Supreme Court for New York County ruled on Nov. 13.

Plaintiff Donald Tobin asserted the claims, contending that he developed pleural mesothelioma as a result of exposure to asbestos while serving in the U.S. Navy as a seaman and storekeeper. Prior …
