Maryland Federal Court Remands Asbestos Case Against Colgate-Palmolive

BALTIMORE –– An asbestos case involving the use of talcum powder has been remanded to Maryland state court after a federal court found that the removing defendant, Colgate-Palmolive (NYSE:CL), had not established that the plaintiff fraudulently joined the in-state defendants.

In the Nov. 1 opinion, the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland opined that the plaintiff’s belief that she was exposed to asbestos in Colgate’s product does not negate the fact that she could have been exposed to asbestos in the in-state defendants’ products as well.
