Calif. Jury Finds for Defendants in Cigarette Asbestos Case




LOS ANGELES -- A California jury has reached a defense verdict for Lorillard Tobacco Co. in an asbestos case involving the plaintiff's use of cigarettes with asbestos-containing filters, sources confirmed to HarrisMartin. Cox, et al. v. Asbestos Corp., Ltd., No. BC409474 (Calif. Super. Ct., Los Angeles Cty.).

The Los Angeles County Superior Court jury reached the verdict on Jan. 19 after less than one day of deliberations. Judge Teresa Sanchez-Gordon presided over the trial, which started on Nov. 30, 2009.
